Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 Trophy Patch on its way

Back in 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4 might have grabbed the fancy of many a fan, but the fact that it shipped without Trophy support is still regretted by most of them. Paying heed to fan requests, Kojima has decided to add this feature to the game with the help of a patch which will be released later this month.

The Trophy system for PSN was initiated by Sony in the middle of 2008. During that time however, MGS4 had already hit the end of its development process. This is the reason why the much acclaimed game was forced to ship without the trait. Another aspect that will be taken care of by this update is the annoying mandatory installation screens following the end of each of the chapters within the game. PS3 users will now be able to fully install the title on their hard drives at one go.

“For all those who have asked ‘where are the Trophies?’ we are very sorry for the long wait. However, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series, we are very pleased to announce that trophies will finally be coming to MGS4 in the beginning of August!” revealed Yoshikazu Matsuhana, Producer, Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Project, on the official PlayStation blog.

From now on, even retail copies of Metal Gear Solid 4 will ship with Trophy support, Kojima revealed. This year marks the 25th anniversary for the legendary series, and the developer has been celebrating it in a number of ways. First, the MGS HD Collection was launched for the PS3, following which it landed on the PS Vita. Moreover, at the end of August, there will be a celebratory event celebrating the anniversary. At the event Kojima will be unveiling its brand new Fox Engine technology which is said to have been constructed for next-gen platforms.
