Rambo: The Video Game Gets Unveiled

A first trailer for Rambo: The Video Game has been revealed by publisher Reef Entertainment, and what’s strange is that this video does not feature any in-game footage. It instead is a collage of scenes from the classic Rambo movies. The game is all set to make its debut at this year’s gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Currently under development for consoles as well as PC, the title has been described as a fixed-perspective, first-person shooter and action title which will enable players to jump into the shoes of the iconic John Rambo. Action sequences from the three original films will be incorporated within the game. These include First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III.

“For Rambo The Video Game we are concentrating on authenticity to the films, variety of action and explosive gameplay sequences. By matching classic fixed-perspective play to a contemporary game engine we believe we can deliver a game that matches the pace and action set-piece diversity of the films. In case anyone needs reminding of what the original ‘one-man-army’ John Rambo is capable of, we have – in association with StudioCanal – prepared a short highlight reel of John Rambo in action from the classic movies,” commented Reef Entertainment Commercial Director Craig Lewis.

The title’s gameplay has been announced to feature everything from shoot-outs, stealth killings, demolition to knife-play and more. Moreover, ‘contemporary gameplay elements’ like destructible terrain, cover-based shooting and rag-doll physics will also be comprised within it.

No release date is out yet for Rambo: The Video Game. It will however be playable at this year’s gamescom which commences on August 15, 2012.
