As promised by Sony during the reveal of God of War: Ascension, more details regarding the title have been outed, with the most startling among them being the addition of online multiplayer to it. This new approach is claimed by its maker to combine the brutal gameplay as well as large-scale battles of the God of War series, so as to deliver fans with a completely fresh, competitive multiplayer experience.
This will of course, be the first time ever in a God of War game that players will be able to compete in online or offline multiplayer battles. The feature has been based on the lines of the single-player campaign, and includes support for up to eight players. A number of distinct multiplayer modes will be on offer, along with customizable avatar warriors with their range of weapons and armor. Moreover, the entire game will even comprise a fresh combat and weapon system, mini-games and new puzzle challenges.

As most of us know by now, God of War: Ascension will be a prequel to the earlier titles. Gamers assume the role of ex-Spartan warrior Kratos, who has found a way to break the blood oath that binds him to the god, Ares. After being tricked into killing his wife and child, Kratos is caged in a prison for the living damned. He must now fight insanity and seek to break his bond in order to take revenge on Ares.
God of War: Ascension is yet to receive its official PS3 release date.
