Sony Japan running tests on ‘new gaming device’

It was apparently written on Sony’s website that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan are hiring testers capable of pushing “part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals” as well as “machines not yet released” to their extremes. According to a Gamespot Japanese translator the site seems to advertise job openings for an “evaluator or assessor” for a “new game machine”.

The advert implies that the applicant will be part of an advisory panel that will verify the functionality of the new machine and PlayStation series software. If accepted, the evaluator will “test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released.”

The folks over at Sony are apparently working on an official response and so far have not issued any such statement. Meanwhile rumors are circulating that the “new machine” could be a fourth edition to the PSP. And if it is, then the new machine would be following the PSP-2000, slimmer than the original and which had the option of video-output, and the PSP-3000, with an in-built microphone to use with Skype and a more luminescent LCD screen among other features.
