There has been a lot of speculation as to what the “i” in the Nintendo DSi means with the recent announcements about the launches of the device in Australia, the UK and the US. Many people seem to believe that Nintendo is capitalizing on the success of Apple’s products like the iPod, iPhone and such. Meanwhile, Nintendo insist that they are not using the popularity of Apple’s products.
TechRadar reported that a Nintendo representative told them about the meaning behind the “i” in the DSi. Here’s what the rep had to say:
Seems that Nintendo are saying that the “i” in the DSi is just like the “i” in phone names, wherein the new models have a camera. And here we thought they just added the “i” to keep up with the trends and sound hip!
