Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the competitive karaoke video game series, SingStar, will be getting an update on April 16, 2009 which is today. The SingStar 3.01 Update, for the PS3 which is to be released across the PAL territories, will be automatic and free from SCEE and carries with it new features and trophies as well as a new look for My SingStar Online. Earlier, Sony had announced wireless microphones for the game.
There are more than 30 trophies which players can win whether they are beginners or SingStar experts. The trophies include All Eyes On You, Keep It Cool and Super Singer Gold. Next, there will be a feature with which players will be able to select the songs by saying the name of the track, eliminating the need for using the controller. This function will be available with the SingStar Pop Edition game at its launch. Also, all SingStar PS3 users can download it for free from SingStore Extras on April 22, 2009. Even players’ My SingStar Online profile page will get a makeover.
Sony sends word that the SingStore and My SingStar Online will be inaccessible for approximately eight hours on April 16, 2009 and has apologized for the inconvenience. Once Sony has completed the work on SingStar, players will be able to sing away to glory.
