Konami to Release Guns of the Patriots on PS3’s Greatest Hits, Metal Gear Solid on PSN

Konami has made quite a few announcements at this year’s E3 about the Metal Gear Solid series. The company revealed an MGS game for the Xbox 360 called Metal Gear Solid: Rising and one for the PSP titled Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Now Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has made its way to the Greatest Hits Collection for the PlayStation 3. Konami will also release the first game, Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation Network, which kick started the series back in 1998.

“Since it’s debut in 1987, the Metal Gear franchise has stood the test of time and continues to break new standards in story-telling and gameplay,” Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Anthony Crouts stated. “These two releases are a perfect way to bridge the original game that created this genre with the latest masterpiece that brought it to an all-new level.”

Guns of the Patriots follows Solid Snake around the world in a bid to stop his arch nemesis Liquid Ocelot. Using a combination of stealth and deft weaponry, players must infiltrate the depths of enemy territory in locations including South America, the Middle East and others as they attempt to dampen Liquid Ocelot’s plans for world domination.

In Metal Gear Solid, players find themselves around the southern Alaskan region to eliminate all the members of FOXHOUND, an organization which threatens to launch a nuclear strike on the world.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available for a lower price of 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,410) starting from June 16, 2009 while Metal Gear Solid will be released on the PlayStation Network for 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 470) on June 18, 2009.
