The Metal Gear Solid franchise is hugely successful selling over 26 million copies. Now Konami announces that the first game in the series for the Xbox 360, titled Metal Gear Solid: Rising, is currently in development.
“The Metal Gear Solid series is one of the most highly acclaimed video game franchises of all time,” exclaimed VP of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Anthony Crouts. “With Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Xbox 360 community will finally get a chance to enjoy the action and excitement that this popular franchise is known to offer.”
The game will star Raiden who first appeared in the PlayStation 2 game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as a playable character. Raiden also made an appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3 in which he was a non-playable cyborg.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising is for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft while release dates or prices have not been announced yet. It is not clear whether the game will also be released for the PS3 and PC.
