Sony PS3 Sales Double in Japan

Nintendo has had a pretty good time in Japan this year as the Wii crossed the seven million milestone late last month. Even their recently launched DSi did pretty well as it shifted half a million units in the land of the rising sun. Sony too has had a good year in Japan as the PSP was the leading hardware of 2008 over there.

But what about the Sony PS3? Now it has emerged that the sales of their present generation console, the PS3, have doubled week-to-week in Japan. Figures from Media Create indicated that the Sony PS3 sold 34,978 units over there. The reason for the spike in sales, apparently, is Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. The football game has sold more than 1.6 lakh copies.
