Spider-Man Remastered Could Be Headed To PS Store As Standalone Release

Spider-Man Remastered

A listing of Spider-Man Remastered has appeared on the PS Store, sparking rumors that the special PS5 release could be on its way to becoming a standalone purchase. At the moment, anyone who wishes to play the remastered version of the original PS4 game on the PS5 needs to purchase the more expensive version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, called the Ultimate Edition, which has a download code for the remastered game.

The listing for Spider-Man Remastered has appeared on both the US and UK versions of the PS Store, with its price listed as $39.99 and £44.99 in the respective regions. However, there are no reports of players being able to download the game. If it indeed turns out to be a legit listing, PS5 gamers will be able to enjoy the remastered version of the 2018 game without buying its sequel.

Insomniac Games recently deployed an update to Spider-Man Remastered that blessed it with a Performance RT mode. It joins the already available Performance mode, which focuses on 60fps visuals at the cost of ray-tracing, and the Fidelity mode, which prioritizes s ray-tracing but at 30fps. Performance RT hits the middle ground by offering 60fps gameplay with ray-tracing, but with adjusted “scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man was released in 2018 as a PS4 game and was a huge hit upon launch. Its sequel Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a launch title for the PS5 and it too received rave reviews for its offerings. This new game can be purchased for the PS4 as well as the PS5 and being a cross-gen offering allows owners of a last-gen copy to upgrade to the next-gen version without any extra cost.

We’ll keep you posted about any developments around Spider-Man Remastered.
