Microsoft Kinect for Windows v2 sensor showcased

Microsoft Kinect for Windows v2 is yet another attempt by the company to provide interested developers the power of its advanced motion sensing input technology without the need for connecting it to an Xbox console. By the looks of it, this new sensor seems very similar to the Xbox One’s Kinect sensor.

But a couple of small differences include a Kinect branding on its top surface and a different power indicator than the one that’s on the Xbox One. While the latter console’s Kinect sensor bears the Xbox logo on it, this one features a simple light indictor. Microsoft is yet to tell us when it’s planning to launch Kinect for Windows v2, but the company has mentioned that it has moved ‘closer to launch’ now that its hardware has been unveiled.

The sensor will require a few other components in order to work. These include a hub and a power supply. Its hub will be doled out with support for three connections, namely a sensor, USB 3.0 output to PC and power. The power supply on the other hand, will be compatible with varying power cables depending upon the country or region. Microsoft has made it clear though that it supports voltages from 100 to 240 volts.

Look for a launch of the SDK as well as the hardware of Microsoft Kinect for Windows v2 in the months to come.
