Developer CD Projekt RED has called upon modders from across the world to participate in the beta program of its REDkit modding tools created for its most successful action RPG ”“ The Witcher 2. This announcement comes straight from the gamescom event in Cologne, Germany where the developer even grabbed six honors at this year’s European Games Awards.

The REDkit editor will enable modders to craft their own adventures set within the world of Geralt of Rivia. It provides programmers with the ability to create detailed environments as well as complex and nonlinear quests so they get to tell their own versions of the Witcher story. They can now visit thewitcher.com/redkit in order to get into the beta of these modding tools. The final date for the registrations is September 30, 2012.
Head of the studio at CD Projekt RED, Adam Badowski, said, “We have our own vision for RPGs, they should present an exciting story and give players lots of choices that really matter. The REDkit is designed to create adventures that way ”“ mature, non-linear and engrossing stories set in vivid worlds filled with believable characters.”
The developer is currently working two AAA RPGs, one of which is still unannounced (possibly The Witcher 3), while the other one is game based on the Cyberpunk pen and paper RPG series written by Mike Pondsmith. Its last outing was the Xbox 360 port of the second Witcher title in April this year. This original PC game managed to grab an Overall Score of 9/10 in our review of its Xbox 360 version.
Interested parties can now register themselves at the above mentioned site in order to receive access to the REDkit beta for The Witcher 2.
