Publisher Perfect World Entertainment has officially released Blacklight: Retribution via Steam. After entering into its open beta stage in February 2012, this title made its official debut back in April via its official site.

To pep up the Steam launch, each player who has registered on the platform and hit the fifth level will be given a complimentary orange Portal weapon tag. Moreover, veteran and Steam gamers longing to get their hands on the blue Portal weapon tag will also be given an opportunity to grab it during the first week of this launch.

“We’re excited to make Blacklight: Retribution available to all the PC gamers using Steam. The level of competition is going to be raised from intense to cut-throat with the influx of new Steam players,” remarked Clifton Chu, Product Manager, Perfect World Entertainment.

Like the initial game, the Steam version too places players in each of the seven game modes across nine maps. They will have to advance through the game by defeating their opponents with high tech weapons and armored exoskeletons. This title is based on the free-to-play business model that comes with a hitch that if users ever want to enhance their gaming experiences, they will have to shell out coins here and there.

Apart from the game, the publisher will also be introducing new Oceanic servers across Australia and New Zealand to provide players there with better services. These gamers will be able to connect with others across North America without facing server barriers like latency or lag issues generally witnessed while hooking up to faraway servers.

Blacklight: Retribution can now be downloaded for free through Steam.
