New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-order incentive is a Gold Coin Case

Mario fans who select between either GAME or gamestation stores to pre-order their copies of New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be rewarded with a gold coin case, which of course won’t be made of real gold. This offer looks to be valid only in the UK where the title is slated to launch for the 3DS next month on August 17, 2012.

Gold Coin Case

The gold coin case has been described by Nintendo to be a replica of Mario’s iconic coins which are scattered across the Mushroom Kingdom. This case will be able to hold small objects in it, and is meant for gamers to be able to carry the 3DS game cards of the upcoming title.

Announced for the first time in April 2012, this side-scrolling platformer is all set to act a successor to New Super Mario Bros. which came in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. It is said to feature more emphasis on coin collection than other Mario game, as its ultimate objective is for players to gather one million shiny ones.

It will even contain a Coin Rush Mode which would ask gamers to collect as many coins as possible across three levels. They would even be able to challenge friends to beat their records via the 3DS’ StreetPass feature. Two-player co-op over a local wireless connection is also an option with Luigi stepping in as the second of the two playable characters.
