Limbo Special Edition wanders into Retail

First on XBLA, then on PC and PSN, and later on Mac and Linux, this game has made its way to many platforms as a downloadable, but with the retail launch of the Limbo Special Edition yesterday, PC and Mac gamers will finally get to own the title individually in physical form. This boxed version is available now via Amazon and the game’s official website at a price of 24.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,385).

Limbo Special Edition

Said to have been created for fans, this special edition kicks in a DRM-free copy of the platformer as well as a stand-alone soundtrack disc. Moreover, seven original art cards, a boy sticker and 3D glasses also come bundled with it; and so does a free Steam gift key. All this content will be dished out in a special hard-bound box bearing the game’s art.

Claimed to have sold over a million copies worldwide on consoles and home computers, this game was first released by indie studio Playdead via Xbox Live in 2010. Following this, it made its way to a number of other platforms. A special 3 pack containing Limbo, Trials HD and Splosion Man was also doled out for the Xbox 360 last year.

In June this year, Limbo was made part of the Humble Indie Bundle V that included much loved titles like Bastion, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, Psychonauts and more. A record-breaking 5.1 million USD was raised by this bundle which was created to support indie development, charity and the bundle project itself.
