Most analysts project that Spore could rake in a vigorous revenue of around USD 250 million. The game has been compared to The Sims and analysts note that Spore will be a great success if it does what Sims has done so far. Analyst Michael Pachter from Wedbush Morgan explained, “I think Spore will do at least 3 million units as a packaged product, and if it’s as good as it looks, it has the potential to do twice that.”

Spore is expected to launch on September 7, 2007. The game will release on the PC, Mac and the Nintendo DS as well as the mobile platform. Some of the analysts have mentioned that the DS version could do very well as they have stated that it could go on to sell some seven and a half million units in its lifetime. A few analysts have cautioned that there is a chance that Spore will not live up to the expectations.
