GTA: San Andreas “Hot Coffee” in a steamier situation

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that last week they received grand jury subpoenas from the District Attorney of the County of New York demanding production of documents regarding the company’s knowledge of the hidden sex scenes (Hot Coffee) in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The documents are also related to the creation, insertion and programming of “Hot Coffee”.

GTA: San AndreasA year ago the introduction of the Hot Coffee modification which unlocked contentious sex scenes in the game had ignited a huge controversy around GTA: San Andreas. Some American politicians had also criticized the game’s developer as well the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), the group which establishes content ratings for video games. The ESRB is also conducting an investigation into whether the game’s publisher lied about the game’s content in an attempt to avoid the Adults Only 18+ rating.

Take-Two Interactive, which is completely cooperating and offering the requested documents, has not been directed that it or any specific person is currently an object of the investigation.
