A user made mod will now allow Oblivion enthusiasts to play the game in a multiplayer format. But this is not an official mod. According to Bethesda’s website, “Rather than split our focus between two different types of gameplay, we’d rather focus on one and make it the best single-player experience possible.”
The mod community didn’t have the same opinion as that of Bethesda and have been successful in developing an alpha multiplayer mod dubbed MultiTES4.
MultiTES4 consists of three components: a client application, a server application, and an Oblivion ‘esp’ modification file. The current version supports only 2 people running around Cyrodiil. The other players in the game are represented as non-playing characters (NPC) to each individual on their computer. The NPCs will move and journey to match the players that are connected to the server.
