Sony has sent word that version 2.10 software update for the PS3 is now available for download. Gamers will be able to enjoy the latest interactive Blu-ray Disc movies on their PS3 consoles properly. Not only that, Sony has also increased the number of video formats supported by their next-generation console.
The Blu-ray Profile 1.1 (known as Bonus View) has Picture in Picture (PiP). Also, the first Blu-ray movies that exploits Bonus View feature are scheduled for release in January 2008. The version 2.10 software update for the PS3 also adds support for DivX and VC-1 video playback codecs. Also, voice chat will be enhanced as there is an engaging voice changer feature. Gamers will be able to adjust the tone and pitch of their voices from the Control panel during AV Chat.
The DivX feature would surely bring a smile on the faces of the PS3 gamers. The next generation console by Sony plays DVDs and BD discs but now with the DivX functionality, it will become the main media hub for many gamers.
