Mario Kart 8 getting Link DLC soon, Master Cycle to be his vehicle

Mario Kart 8 has been enjoying immense success ever since it’s been out for the Nintendo Wii U, and has in no doubt contributed a lot to the sales of the struggling console. It is hence that Nintendo isn’t hesitating to slowly infuse it with DLC packages, and one such downloadable will soon bring the popular character of Link into the game. What’s more, he won’t be relying on his trusted steed, Epona for his racing, as his transportation will be taken care of by a Master Cycle motorbike.

This news about the upcoming Mario Kart 8 content was given to us by the Nintendo UK Twitter account which tweeted an image of Link riding his Master Cycle. Both the character and his vehicle will be delivered through the first DLC pack meant for the extremely revered game. Although nothing about its release date information has been mentioned in the tweet, we can expect the content to land in the coming weeks.

The art piece accompanying tweet shows exactly how Link will look when he rides his Master Cycle in Mario Kart 8. The blue-colored bike stays true to the kind of medieval-ish design patterns used in The Legend of Zelda games, while the fact that the character’s shield is affixed to the side of the bike could mean that it’ll be a usable weapon.

Developed by Nintendo EAD Group No. 1, Mario Kart 8 was released to much fanfare in May this year. This Wii U racing game from the popular series takes characters, environments and other elements from a number of Nintendo franchises, and lets players face-off against each other in kart-racing events.
