Limbo seems to be on its way to the Xbox One

If things go as they are being expected to go right now, Xbox One owners will soon be getting to revel in Limbo, the spooky side-scrolling platformer which has earned immense player and critical acclaim since its launch in 2010. The Xbox One version of the minimalistic indie offering has been spotted on a ratings board, which means a release for Microsoft’s new-gen console doesn’t seem to be too far away now. And since the game has also been launched on the PS3, we can expect it to land on the PS4 as well.

Limbo

As revealed by Eurogamer, this listing for Limbo on the Xbox One has been spotted on the Korean Ratings Board. It was submitted by Microsoft Korea at the end of last week. Developed by a Danish studio named Playdead, this title was first released for the Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade offering in 2010. Its exclusivity to the Microsoft platform came to an end a year later, when it finally saw a release for the PS3, PC and Mac in 2011. Retail versions of the game came out in 2012, while its PS Vita and iOS copies were let out in 2013. Moreover, in June this year, a version for Linux was also launched via Steam.

Limbo is basically a puzzle-based platformer that plays as a 2D sidescroller. It is distinguished by its monochromatic visuals and minimalistic sounds that create a spooky atmosphere. You are asked to take control of a little boy who must make his way through dangerous environments and traps if he wishes to find his sister.

While the Xbox One version of Limbo is big news, something way bigger than that is on its way in 2015. Playdead is busy creating another game called Inside for multiple platforms.
