Ultimate Band for Nintendo DS and Wii Announced by Disney Interactive Studios

A few weeks ago, we reported that Disney Interactive Studios had announced a racing game called Pure. Now they have come up with one more game! Disney has sent word about Ultimate Band, a game that has been made for the Nintendo DS as well as the Wii. It will fully exploit the DS stylus as well as the Wiimotes.

Ultimate Band

The Nintendo DS version of Ultimate Band will be a rhythm-based music game that features a built-in recording studio. Gamers will be able to jam to present and classic songs by making use of drums, lead guitar, bass guitar or rhythm guitar. In fact, Ultimate Band allows users to make their own original songs using the DS touchscreen and stylus to lay down tracks for all instruments and apply creative mixing effects. The game will have the DGamer functionality.

As for the Ultimate Band for Wii, it will give gamers the capability to lay the drums, bass guitar, lead guitar, or take on the role of the front man as it makes good use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. What’s more, gamers will be able to generate and modify characters. Ultimate Band will have new songs, venues, and accessories which can be unlocked and used to alter their band members.

Ultimate Band 2

Craig Relyea, Senior VP, Global Marketing, Disney Interactive Studios says, “Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session. And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members do not need to buy expensive, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band’s deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they’ll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band.”

Disney has roped in London-based music consultants Radial Music to coalesce familiar classics with today’s hottest songs. David Hill from Radial Music explains, “Radial worked closely with Disney to compile the perfect song list for Ultimate Band. With iconic songs from every decade since the 60s, these games feature music for everyone.”

Ultimate Band 3

Ultimate Band is being developed by Salt Lake City-based Fall Line Studios. The game will release for the Nintendo DS and Wii in the holiday season of 2008. Disney has mentioned that the game was the first project the team began working on after they formed Fall Line.
