Nintendo 3DS range gets yet another refresh, new units coming this October

The Nintendo 3DS range has been granted a refresh by introducing two new devices equipped with extra buttons and other additional features. Fresh models of the 3DS as well as the 3DS XL will be hitting store shelves in Japan on October 11, with their prices set at 16000 yen (approx Rs 9300) and 18800 yen (approx Rs 10900), respectively. As for those from nations other than the said one, there will be no release of these products at least during this calendar year.

The Nintendo 3DS range will now feature a C-Stick as well as ZL and ZR buttons, whereas both the models will even benefit from a Super-Stable 3D function that’s aimed at augmenting the 3D effects created by the handheld gaming console. And then there’s even support for NFC which will allow you to use the upcoming ‘Amiibo’ range of toys on your Nintendo 3DS devices.

Some design changes make the cartridge slot on these products moving towards the front, leading to there being enough space on the back for the extra buttons. Additionally, the power adapter slot on the handheld console gets moved to the center. Nintendo tells us that the 3DS can work for 3.5 to 6 hours on single complete charge, while the 3DS XL can keep running for 3.5 to 7 hours.
