Resident Evil: Revelations 2 set for early 2015 release on PS4 and other platforms

At Sony’s pre-TGS 2014 conference, the company along with Capcom unveiled Resident Evil: Revelations 2 with a short trailer and also revealed that it will be arriving early in 2015. While the PS4 was the only platform mentioned at the keynote, the game’s developers have now disclosed that it will also be hitting other platforms that include the PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. There’s no love for the 3DS however, which is something worth pointing out as its predecessor was first released for this Nintendo device.

This month’s Tokyo Game Show is where a playable demo of the upcoming title will be made available for attendees, whereas more details about it can be expected next week itself. It is currently being developed by a team consisting of the main staff members who were responsible for the original title. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be set in a new period and will grab a fresh setting, according to Capcom producer Masachika Kawata. According to The Verge, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield won’t be the protagonists this time around.

The game’s predecessor was first launched back in January 2012 for the 3DS handheld console. Seeing its success, Capcom decided to port it to other platforms, and released it for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC last May. Staying true to the series’ survival horror roots, it offered action and shooting gameplay as well as exploration and puzzle elements.
