Set as a re-imagined retrospective, Curse of the Sinistrals is an extensive revision of the original Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals which was developed by Neverland in 1995. The first title in the series namely Lufia & the Fortress of Doom represents the backdrop of the original Lufia II. After being in development since 2009, Curse of the Sinistrals for Nintendo DS has now made its arrival in retail stores.

The revamped version of the original title introduces a variety of new features. The most prominent one among them is that the new installment is an action RPG, whereas Rise of the Sinistrals was a turn-based strategy game. Descriptively as the plot unfurls, a ferocious monster hunter Maxim sets on a journey to defeat the legendary gods of destruction, the Sinistrals. Resisting unfathomable evil alongside a few other eclectics that he meets throughout his journey, Maxim has become the last hope for the world en-masse.
