Nintendo DSi Coming to North America Until Late 2009: Reggie Fils-Aime

Yesterday Nintendo unveiled a new variant of their handheld gaming console. Called as the Nintendo DSi, it has many new enhancements. Though the DSi would be released in Japan this year itself, there was no information on when it would hit other markets. It was known that Europe would get it next year, so would North America.

Now at a press event in San Francisco in the United States, Reggie Fils-Aime, who is the president of Nintendo of America, has revealed that they wouldn’t be getting the Nintendo DSi to North America well until calendar year 2009. He pointed out that Nintendo will continue selling the DS all through the holiday season.

Nintendo DSi features two cameras along with larger screens, music playback and is also slimmer. Reggie Fils-Aime stated that these functionalities were not added so that they could take on the Apple iPhone. According to him Nintendo wants to complement the game play.
