Final Fantasy XI’s new Content Release Dated

Square Enix has previously announced three add-on scenarios for its Final Fantasy XI MMO game. Now the company says that the first of these three add-ons will be released on March 22, 2009. The scenario entitled ‘A Crystalline Prophecy Ode of Life Bestowing’ will be available only for purchase online, via the PlayOnline Viewer. Earlier, Square Enix had also said that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time would be coming to Europe in March.

In this add-on scenario, a large crystal appears in the sky over the city of Jeuno and causes a string of inexplicable events. Adventurers go out to uncover the mystery of this primitive crystal which contains the secret of Vana’diel’s past.

The game accommodates players in North America, Europe and Japan and is the first MMO to enable players on three different platforms to cooperate in multiplayer mode. The game has an online community of about 500,000 subscribers from all over the world.

Masato Kato, who worked on the game and its first expansion pack is working on these three content packages. The other two add-ons are ‘A Moogle Kupo d’Etat – Evil in Small Doses’ and ‘A Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born’ to be released later in the year.

The first add-on to Final Fantasy XI will be available from March 22, 2009 and will cost 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 510).
