Xbox One gets control remapping options via latest update

The Xbox One console has just been blessed by Microsoft with its annual fall update, and among the new features this upgrade has brought with it are the options to remap the controls of the console’s controller. Although this choice was available for Xbox 360 users since the start, it had been missing on the newest system from the Redmond-based company ever since it arrived in the market.

All Xbox One controllers will now be able to have their controls remapped for the convenience of their owners. Basically, you’ll be able to switch functions between pairs of buttons. So, if you’re used to Japanese PlayStation controls where circle acts as the confirm button rather than X, then you can remap your Xbox One controller’s A button to B.

It has been revealed by Microsoft that the newly launched $150 Elite controller for the console will offer more customization options to gamers. On this particular controller you can have multiple buttons mapped to the same function. The remapped settings are not just saved on your Xbox One consoles, but also on the Elite controllers, so that they can even work with other systems and even PCs.

The update which has brought this functionality to the console has also blessed it with other more significant additions. These include a revamped Xbox One dashboard which makes it easier for you to navigate its functions. Additionally, the system has even been granted backwards compatibility for more than a hundred Xbox 360 games.
