Microsoft takes $50 off the price of the Xbox One for the holidays

As the console war between the PS4 and the Xbox One continues, a major lead has just been taken by Microsoft’s system, even as its base price has been brought by $50 down to $350. This price drop applies only to the US, and it has been revealed that all bundles of the console will have a hefty $50 slashed off their original asking amounts. This however, will be a limited-time deal that is supposed to last until the end of this year’s holiday season. There’s no word on whether or not such a discount will be made available outside the US.

Xbox One Bundles

When the Xbox One was first released back in November last year, its $500 price tag was received with quite some flak, since the PS4 was made available at $400 by Sony. The extra $100 on Microsoft’s console were added due to the Kinect accessory that was bundled with it. With an aim of better competing against Sony’s system, the company decided to take this sensor out of the package, and eventually dropped the price of the Xbox One to $400, bringing it on par with that of the PS4. To keep the Kinect relevant, the $500 bundle containing the accessory has still been kept in the market.

The $50 price cut which Microsoft has brought out as a holiday gift for its fans, applies to all the packages that currently thrive in the US market or are about to be released soon. These include the Kinect-less bundle ($350), the Kinect bundle ($450), the Kinect-less Assassin’s Creed bundle ($350) and the Assassin’s Creed budle with Kinect ($450). Moreover, while the new Sunset Overdrive bundle will be seen selling for $349, the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare bundle with a 1TB hard drive and other goodies will go for $450.

We’ll have more if we hear details about such a discount on the Xbox One console for other parts of the globe.
