Microsoft will soon be launching its new and improved Xbox 360 Dashboard update that’s accompanied by various interesting features. These include a redesigned user interface, a few entertainment applications and an expanded voice control with Kinect. The upgrade will be available to all Xbox 360 users free of charge through Xbox Live starting 6 December, 2011.
According to the company, the redesigned dashboard is stated to deliver a new entertainment experience for users. Built right from scratch, the UI holds an intuitive design which allows gamers to conveniently browse through menus, entertainment features and favorites through voice commands on the Kinect for the Xbox 360 console. However, only selected Xbox Live content can be controlled through voice and gestures. Also, the Bing voice search is available only in the U.S., UK and Canada.
“While many of you have been involved in the Xbox LIVE Preview Program and have been busy getting an early look at the next Xbox 360 and Xbox Live features, I wanted to let you know that the official release for the update for all Xbox Live members will be Tuesday, December 6th. In this update, free to all console owners,” expressed Larry Hryb, on the official Xbox Live Major Nelson blog.
Keeping up with the times, players can store game saves as well as their Live profile in the cloud and also share some content on social networking websites like Facebook. Additionally, the update is also scheduled to wrap in a few customized applications that include television shows, internet videos, sports, movies and music. The new entertainment features are expected to roll out starting December and will carry on through early 2012 from providers in more than 20 countries worldwide.
The Xbox 360 Dashboard update will be available through Xbox Live on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 for all users free of charge.
