Lionhead Studios is in development for a new RPG in the action-adventure Fable series. It’s Fable: The Journey which will be powered by the Unreal Engine-3 technology. The game will be out for the Kinect.

With Kinect’s gesture-based combat controls, gamers can experience better gameplay and an in-game world that stretches far away. This time around players take care of their horse and give voice commands to the animal in an attempt to save him from falling off a cliff. Hand motions will enable the formation of spears and shields. The Fable world seems full of magic, with gamers empowered to even whip their hands up and pull out life from any being.

“In using the Unreal Engine with its excellent tools for crafting cinematic in-game experiences, it allows our developers to focus on the quality and uniqueness of ‘Fable: The Journey,’” commented Peter Molyneux, creative director of Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios Europe. “Already we are seeing a more beautiful, vivid and unique world full of dramatic moments and have crafted new, never seen before gameplay experiences.”

“The world of Albion has always been a beautiful place, and Lionhead embellishing it using the bells and whistles of Unreal Engine 3 makes it even more magical,” mentioned Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. “Furthermore, Lionhead truly impresses with their proficiency for Kinect, with intuitive and natural feeling player interactions using voice and gesture controls in demonstrations we have seen firsthand. That gripping experience combined with stunning UE3 visuals truly make this is a world-class union of imagination and technology.”

With the use of the Unreal Engine, the game should be able to give players a more realistic experience. Dramatic moments and a distinct gameplay is what the focus appears to be on. The technology combines with the enhanced capabilities of the Kinect.
