Lips Microphones to be used with other Music Games, says Microsoft

Microsoft has announced that Guitar Hero: Metallica and Rock Band 2, are to be some of the first music based games to utilize the wireless microphones used in Microsoft’s own music based game Lips.

Microsoft created the wireless mics teaming up with iNiS to give fans around the world a wireless rock experience. The wireless microphones set the bar for music peripherals, and feature built-in LEDs and motion sensing technology.

Xbox 360 users will be able to use the Lips mics with Guitar Hero: Metallca. Also, an update to Rock Band 2 this summer will enable owners of the game to use the Lips microphones. Also, exclusively on the Xbox 360, later this year there will be more titles which support the Lips microphones.

Fans of Lips have something to sing about, as more popular songs are added to the Lips in-game “Get Music” store and the Xbox Live Marketplace. Ne-Yo, Coldplay and Creedence Clearwater Revival will be featured in song packs this month and new songs by Mika, Incubus, Yellowcard, Fall Out Boy and more will be available in all Xbox Live enabled regions.

Released on April 3, 2009 were Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sugar, We’re Goin Down by Fall Out Boy and Wish You Were Here by Incubus.

On April 7, 2009 the Ne-Yo Song Pack including Closer, So Sick and, Hate That I Love You by Rihanna feat. Ne-Yo is set to be released. The second pack is the Coldplay Song Pack including In My Place, Speed of Sound and The Scientist. Also releasing on the same day are the songs Looking Out My Back Door by Creedence Clearwater Revival and Closer and So Sick by Ne-Yo.

Coming on April 17, 2009 is the Creedence Clearwater Revival Song Pack which contains the songs Bad Moon Rising, Looking Out My Back Door and Who’ll Stop the Rain and the songs All My Life by K-Ci & Jo Jo, Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down and Sing by Travis.

Available on April 27, 2009 will be the songs Linger by The Cranberries, Love Today by Mika and Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard.

The console allows owners to listen to music, watch music videos and perform as music artists with games such as Lips, Guitar Hero: Metallica and Rock Band 2. The Xbox Live game add-ons have seen almost 60 million songs downloaded to date, with music from various albums for the different music games.
