Nintendo Switch 2 Expected Before March 2022: Report

Nintendo Switch

We’ve been hearing murmurs about the Nintendo Switch 2 for quite some time now and the latest bit should give you some idea about its release date. A new Bloomberg report is claiming that the Japanese company is aiming for record game and console sales in the next fiscal year with the help of big game launches, and of course, the updated console.

This claim comes from sources at “component suppliers, software publishers, and retailers” who say that Nintendo hopes the introduction of this new console will allow Switch console sales to go flat or slightly higher year-on-year. While the new model of the Nintendo Switch has been mentioned unofficially several times before, we don’t have much info on it.

We do know though that it could come with an OLED screen of its own, providing crisper visuals and efficient battery consumption. There’s no word yet on whether anything else will change for the 4-year-old console. Along with the console, Nintendo also plans on having a huge lineup of game releases.

Headlining the list is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, which was unveiled last month, along with the likes of Splatoon 3, and Mario Golf Super Rush. And then there are Pokemon games on the horizon as well. Remakes of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are headed to the Switch, along with Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

The report in question states that Nintendo intends to sell over 250 million game units across the fiscal year. This would mean a 45 million unit increase on the company’s current projection of 205 million software sales for the year.

The best time for Nintendo to release Switch 2 would definitely be this fall, ahead of the holiday season so we’d hedge our bets on that time period.
