Nintendo Switch accessories’ prices leave gamers fuming

The Nintendo Switch will be released on March 3 for $300 and you can pre-order it through various outlets (the ones that aren’t already sold out at least). The only problem is, the company hasn’t bothered to sweeten the deal with any extras worth mentioning. Sure it comes with the Joy-Con controllers and an accompanying grip, wrist straps and a dock for hooking up the system to a large screen TV.

But no games are being bundled in with it. And the Joy-Con grip which will be sold with the $300 gaming system isn’t capable of charging the controllers. Instead, the attachments get powered up while they’re fastened to the Nintendo Switch tablet. If you want an extra kick of battery life, you’ll have to buy the optional charging grip which is priced at $30.

In case you wish to throw a Nintendo Switch party, get ready to shell out $50 per Joy-Con or $80 for two. Gamers who’d prefer to pair the tablet with a DualShock-style controller can purchase a Pro Controller – for a hefty sum of $70. Then there’s the matter of storage space for games of course.

The Switch only has 32GB of memory built into it. So a microSDXC or microSDHC card is another thing you’ll have to pay for if you really intend to use the system properly. Remember how tight lipped Nintendo was when asked about the games that would be rolled out along with the system?

Well, only 5 will be available at launch – Super Bomberman R, Skylanders Imaginators, 1-2-Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Just Dance 2017. More will be arriving at a later date. But Nintendo’s not giving away a single one for free.
