BenQ Zowie XL2540 for Rs 45000 has 240Hz refresh rate, no IPS

BenQ which acquired e-sports equipment specialist Zowie in late 2008, has launched the Zowie XL2540 gaming monitor for enthusiasts across India. It’s been tacked with an asking price of Rs 45000 for 24.5 inches of 1920 x 1080p full HD resolution visuals and a fairly impressive native refresh rate of 240Hz.

The presence of TN instead of IPS technology on the specifications sheet sticks out like a sore thumb though. BenQ might be able to promise decent color reproduction via the 20 levels of Color Vibrance settings offered by the monitor, but we won’t be convinced until we take the Zowie XL2540 for a spin.

It feels as if the company has done everything to make visibility from various angles a non-issue, instead of including IPS. The height of the monitor can be adjusted to a comfortable position for the user, with just one finger. They’ve even put some sort of blinkers on the screen and named it Shield.

And if a display with wing-like contraptions on either side doesn’t do it for you, another highlighted feature of the Zowie XL2540 is its special frame. It’s said to minimize light reflection from the LCD in order to keep you focused on the task of disemboweling your virtual enemies or whatever else.

The other key specifications of the BenQ Zowie XL2540 include a response time of roughly 1ms, 400 nits of brightness and a hotkey function for quickly switching between various settings. Head over to this page on the company’s official website for the complete list of specs.
