Multi-Display Experience with ATI Eyefinity Technology displayed at CES

AMD has joined hands with Samsung to showcase a brand new revelation at the CES 2010 held in Las Vegas. The companies displayed new Samsung thin-bezel displays that unravel a great multi-display experience complete with ATI Eyefinity technology on select ATI Radeon HD graphics cards.

This is achieved by lowering the number of display edges for a high resolution panoramic computing experience. The companies also disclosed a new ATI Eyefinity Validation program which aids in choosing adapters, displays, software and other such components with ATI Eyefinity technology. Just last month we reported that the highly acclaimed title Dragon Age: Origins is playable with ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology.

“ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology has inspired the PC world, with hardware vendors and software developers keen to take full advantage of the capabilities our new ATI Radeon graphics cards. Samsung is a tremendously valued industry leader, working to push the limits of display technology for an even better ATI Eyefinity experience. Today’s demonstration at CES, in addition to ATI Eyefinity technology coming to notebooks, and the announcement of a new ATI Eyefinity validation program that helps consumers make more informed purchase decisions, all show the incredible momentum that’s behind this innovative technology,” explained Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, AMD Products Group.

The Samsung MD230 displays sport bezels that are 50% to 70% slimmer when pitted against standard displays. PC users can achieve the ultimate gaming experience by coupling up to six displays to a single ATI Radeon HD graphics card. This can be done due to the ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology embedded in the products. PC gamers are set to experience better productivity as well as HD multimedia, all at up to 12 x full HD resolution.

The new ‘ATI Eyefinity Multi-Display Validation’ is endowed on those products that have undergone testing by AMD’s quality control labs. These devices also support ATI Eyefinity resolutions in landscape or portrait modes. The ‘ATI Eyefinity Multi-Display Ready’ designation is for those types of products that are compatible with ATI Eyefinity technology through AMD’s testing or pre-qualification testing from partners based on AMD requirements. The program comprises of products such as DisplayPort adapters, Display devices, software like games and other applications as well as various other hardware components.

The new Samsung displays are scheduled to unveil by early 2010 with a starting price of $3,099 (approx. Rs.141,933) and $1,899 (approx. Rs.86,973) for a six-screen and three-screen configuration respectively.
