The ATI Catalyst drivers are compatible with AMD platforms running Windows 7. Not only do they make the overall system more stable, but they also provide a high quality desktop environment for the operating system. Its ATI Stream technology will support Windows 7 during the accelerated video transcoding tasks which use up the system GPU and CPU. The drivers fully support ATI FirePro professional graphics for Windows 7 and greatly enhance game performance levels, compared with a single card and multi-GPU configurations of Windows Vista running ATI CrossFireX.

“AMD continues to be an important Microsoft technology partner. We’ve worked closely with AMD through all of the Windows 7 milestones to ensure that Windows 7 supports the latest high-performance graphics features such as tessellation and shader model 5.0, which will deliver a stunning visual experience when running Windows 7 with AMD graphics,” commented Jon DeVaan, senior vice president, Windows Core OS Division, Microsoft.

ATI Radeon users can now download the ATI Catalyst 9.7 driver from the official AMD website while ATI FirePro professional graphics users can avail of the ATI Catalyst 8.632 driver. So far, no details about the prices have been mentioned by the company.
