Star Wars Game From Quantic Dream Reportedly On The Cards

Detroit: Become Human

Chirpings in the industry are that Quantic Dream’s next project is a Star Wars game for Disney. The company known for Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human is apparently working on a game based on the franchise, which will be its first title in a decade not to be published by Sony.

This is still a rumor but it aligns with Lucasfilm’s recent decision to move away from EA being its exclusive partner for making Star Wars video games. Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment studio, which is known for The Division, has also been commissioned to make an open-world game based on the franchise.

Quantic Dream’s apparent involvement in making a Star Wars game was mentioned by  French YouTuber Gautoz who said, “They’ve now finished their contract with Sony and will be signing with Disney.” He added, “It looks like they will be working on a Star Wars game.”

While that’s something we’d have taken with a large grain of salt, this rumor was corroborated by insider Tom Henderson on his Twitter by posting an image from the game Detroit: Become Human with two lightsabers placed on top of it.

Quantic Dream’s contract with Sony meant that it could only develop games for PlayStation consoles. Although it did publish its three PlayStation-exclusive games on PC after the contract ended, they were developed with PlayStation consoles in mind.

Heavy Rain was Quantic Dream’s first outing with Sony and earned immense praise for its unique narrative-focused gameplay. Then came Beyond: Two Souls, which did hold its own despite criticism. The developer’s last outing was Detroit: Become Human.

The news of an apparent Star Wars game being in development from Quantic Dream is quite exciting given the studio’s knack for coming up with truly unique games. Let us see how much of it stands true.
