GTA: San Andreas set to jump the smartphone and tablet bandwagon in remastered form

One would think that bringing a game of the magnitude that GTA: San Andreas is onto mobile devices would need some downgrading from its developers, but Rockstar has done otherwise, and has remastered it with better graphics and more. The company has just announced that one of its most successful open world offerings will be making its way onto iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices as early as in December.

GTA: San Andreas

After exploring just Los Santos and the surrounding country parts of San Andreas in GTA V, gamers will get to again jump into the original game which introduced the stetting back in 2004. Although on a much smaller scale than in GTA V, the open word of GTA: San Andreas features areas like San Fierro (fictional representation of San Francisco) and Las Venturas (fictional representation of Las Vegas), apart from Los Santos (fictional representation of Los Angeles) and the country side of course.

Rockstar Games has moreover revealed that newly remastered graphics will be seen making their way into this mobile version, allowing for dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distances and an enhanced color palette. And that’s not all; car and character models will be getting some treatment as well. Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas was first released for the PS2 in 2004, but was brought on to the Xbox and PC a year later. 2008 and 2012 saw it being released for the Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively, as a downloadable. It found its way to Steam in 2008, and to Mac in 2011.

And now, here it is, staring at yet another big release more than nine years following its original one. There’s no exact launch date for the game as of now, but we know that it will be out sometime in December.
