Bruckheimer Adapting 2K’s ‘Shattered Union’ video game

Shattered Union is the turn-based strategy game from 2K Games released in 2005. And it seems the game has the potential to do more than just satisfy a gaming audience, as Variety reports that immensely successful film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer has got writer J. Michael Straczynski to adapt the video game Shattered Union for the silver screen at Disney.

Shattered Union

Shattered Union the video game sees civil unrest grow among the states in the US after a hugely unpopular presidency. Following a nuclear weapon detonation in Washington, D.C., the states secede from the union and civil war ensues.

As the website reports, Straczynski is currently penning a ‘Silver Surfer’ film at Fox, and a re-envisioning of the 1956 science fiction film ‘Forbidden Planet’ at Warner Bros. Apparently, Mike Stenson and Chad Oman are also on board, and are set to exec produce the venture at Jerry Bruckheimer Films, a studio prepping ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ based on Ubisoft’s video game franchise.
