Fewer, Bigger, Better Games in 2008: Midway

2007 was a decent year for Midway Games and the title it was banking on, Unreal Tournament 3, did as it was expected to. Now as they enter 2008, they have a new plan as Midway boss David Zucker has indicated that they intend to have “fewer, bigger, better” video game titles in 2008.

Midway Games

David Zucker is the chief executive officer of Midway. He spoke to Chicago Tribune and said, “The newer systems, such as Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, require a lot of work developing the technology foundation. We have put a fair amount of money and effort into doing that. We are putting a lot of the challenges behind us. It’s been a tough ride.”

In 2008, Midway will also be banking on Hollywood tie-ins to rake in the moolah. Analysts also agree that next year is going to a critical one for Midway. They feel that the company will have to get the products from their internal studios to start performing at retail. But the analysts did mark that Midway has started to get better breadth and deeper lineup of video game titles.
