We are very proud of Manhunt 2, says Rockstar

Manhunt may have been banned in UK and North America but Rockstar is ‘very proud’ of their game. In fact they have issued a statement, which they mailed to the entire fan base and have thanked them for supporting the game.

We are very proud of Manhunt 2

This is what Rockstar had to say about Manhunt 2:

We are very proud of Manhunt 2 and believe it builds on what the team accomplished with the first title in the series. The game was developed as a horror experience, and to be an M rated title, aligning it with similar horror content created in other forms of media. Unlike many other people, we do not think video games should be singled out for special treatment from the authorities. We hope to have more information for you soon, but in the meantime, we wanted you to know how much we value all of your messages of support.

Even ELSPA’s former head Roger Bennett told MCV that video games are becoming increasingly and wholly unjustifiably separated from other forms of screen entertainment. He stated that the Government and the BBFC have become heavily influenced by previous events which in no way have any link to the video gaming industry. ELSPA is UK’s video game trade group. Bennett is worried that the ban of Manhunt 2 in UK could have long term effects.

Well, one of the effects was that Rockstar Games had decided to temporarily shelve Manhunt 2 for some time!
