Manhunt 2 Temporarily Suspended by Take-Two

Take-Two Interactive has decided to go defensive regarding Manhunt 2 as they have temporarily suspended plans to distribute the game. This comes after the game was banned in the UK as well as Ireland and received Adults Only ratings by the ESRB in the USA.

Manhunt 2 Shelved

A Take-Two Interactive representative told GameSpot, “Take-Two Interactive Software has temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the British Board of Film Classification and Entertainment Software Rating Board,”. “We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment.”

Even Sony and Nintendo had said that their policies do not permit them to release AO rated games for their consoles. Manhunt 2 was supposed to release for the PS2, PSP and the Wii on July 10, 2007. Take-Two will either have to make modifications to their game or shelve the game for good.
