Counter-Strike 2 Unveiled As Free Upgrade To CS:GO

Counter-Strike 2

Murmurs about a possible Counter-Strike 2 being in existence have finally been put an end to by Valve. The game is coming this summer with plenty of new features and will be provided as a free upgrade to those who own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

In fact, some CS:GO players have already been invited to an ongoing limited test of the game. According to Valve, this game marks the “largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history” and this means even stronger PCs will be needed to play it.

Meanwhile, Valve has already started to highlight new features of Counter Strike 2 via its official website. Smoke Grenades, which are a huge part of the game’s experience, have received a big upgrade, making them way more dynamic than before.

The smoke can now mould itself realistically according to the environment it is in. It can also interact with environmental lighting and can clear up marginally when bullets and other objects pass through it.

Another big update to Counter-Strike 2 is that tick rate will no longer matter for moving, shooting, or throwing. This will add another layer of responsiveness to the game. And then, of course, the familiar maps are being rebuilt from the ground up.

These maps use Source 2 lighting and a physically based rendering system that produces realistic materials, lighting, and reflections. Community members will receive all these map-making tools once the game hits full availability.

With the power of Source 2 and particle systems, Counter-Strike 2’s gameplay visuals will also get a huge boost and the same can be said about its sound.

Lastly, all the inventory of CS:GO players will indeed be carried forward into Counter-Strike 2 whenever it gets released this summer.
