Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Revealed With First Trailer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

This November will see the release of Activision and Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the newest entry to the mega-franchise. The first trailer for the game is out and while it doesn’t reveal many details, a full press release has disclosed quite a lot about the title.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (not to be confused with 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3) continues the story of Modern Warfare II and offers both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. It’s the first time in the series that a direct sequel is launching back to back.

Its campaign will include a new kind of mission called ‘open combat.’ These open-ended missions will have their outcomes dependent on player choices and will feature multiple paths and approaches that will support different playstyles.

And then there’s of course, the multiplayer portion. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary with a collection of classic maps.

These include Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland. These maps have all been modernized graphically and aesthetically.

A brand-new mode called Cutthroat will also be introduced by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, offering competitive 3v3v3 gameplay. In addition, returning modes like Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed will be playable on the above-mentioned core maps at launch.

Three new ‘Battle Maps’ will form part of the game’s multiplayer experience. These have been described as large-scale locations where Ground War and Invasion game modes take place. There will even be a ‘colossal’ War map to host an evolved version of War Mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will also see the return of Zombies and Activision has revealed that the mode will feature multiple squads teaming up against undead hordes in the “largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever.”
