Cyberpunk 2077 Back On PS Store, Base PS4 Users Warned

Cyberpunk 2077Almost six months after it was removed from the PS Store, Cyberpunk 2077 has been made available through the service, albeit with a warning. Both Sony and CD Projekt have recommended that the game be played on the PS4 Pro or the PS5, as the PS4 edition may still suffer from performance issues.

The PlayStation Twitter account wrote in a tweet, “Cyberpunk 2077 is now available at PlayStation Store. Work on the PS4 version continues, with fixes and updates to be released throughout the year. For the best experience on PlayStation, playing on PS4 Pro or PS5 consoles is recommended.”

Developer CD Projekt RED wrote a similar message on Twitter. It read, “Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms. The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.”

It was only last week that a big performance and bug-fixing update was issued for the game. Its description said that it included “numerous crash fixes in animations, UI, scene, physics and gameplay systems”. This patch even promises a reduction in the number of crashes through “memory optimizations and memory management improvements in various systems.”

To recall, Cyberpunk 2077 suffered from a horrible launch in September last year. While all versions of the game were plagued by bugs, the PS4 and Xbox One editions suffered from glitches as well as performance issues that made the game unplayable. Both Microsoft and Sony were ultimately compelled to start offering refunds to those who bought those versions.

While the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is back on the PS Store now, the update that will offer a free upgrade to the PS5 version is scheduled to arrive later this year.
