Titanfall had a PS3 version suggests leaked data

PlayStation fans who’re sulking about Titanfall not having been planned for a PS3 and PS4 release have something more to be disappointed about. Apparently, the game was indeed under development for at least one of the two Sony consoles, as has been suggested by a new leak. A PS3 version of it was supposedly under development during some point of time before Microsoft acquired its exclusivity for its own platforms.

Titanfall

The above mentioned image is from a texture file found within the game data of the Titanfall beta which is live right now. The image (via NeoGaf) refers to PC, the Xbox 360 as well as Durango which was the codename of the Xbox One console during its development phase. But between all those, there’s a mention of the PS3 as well, which has led to this piece of news.

While this indicates that a version of the last-gen Sony console was under development at some point, there’s isn’t any possibility of the game hitting PlayStation consoles in the future, as Microsoft has purchased its exclusivity rights from EA. However, the deal is only supposed to last for this particular game, so perhaps a Titanfall 2 could please PlayStation fans in the distant future.

This first-person shooter from Respawn Entertainment has been built using a heavily modified version of Valve’s Source engine. It features multiplayer-only battles, and involves mechs and free-running traversal mechanics. Titanfall is currently in its beta phase, and is supposed to the released for the Xbox One and PC on March 11, while its Xbox 360 release date will fall on March 25.
