Call of Duty: Ghosts swapping zombies for aliens in Extinction Mode?

That there’s an unannounced Extinction mode set to be released with Call of Duty: Ghosts is quite old news, but leaked screenshots have gone on to suggest more information about it than ever before. The upcoming game seems to possess some kind of a sci-fi co-op mode revolving around aliens. While the mode has only been teased by Activision by means of a short Instagram video, a fresh leak has brought forth screenshots showcasing a number of details regarding it.

It appears that the Extinction mode from Call of Duty: Ghosts has been aimed at replacing the popular Zombies modes which have been a staple for the series lately. The screenshots which have been posted on popular image-sharing portal Imgur by a user named smtkz have revealed that it indeed involves cooperative gameplay. Sometime ago, a list of leaked Achievements from the upcoming title had also suggested the existence of such a mode, as they contained an Achievement for completing all ‘Extinction challenges.’

Call of Duty: Ghosts is a next-gen first-person shooter which is all set to be the tenth main installment in the massively successful CoD franchise. Developed by series veteran Infinity Ward, it will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U on November 5, whereas its launch for the PS4 and Xbox One will take place on the release dates of the respective consoles.

This means, North American PS4 owners will get it on November 15, while Europeans will receive their copies on November 29, 2013. Xbox One owners on the other hand will get to jump into Call of Duty: Ghosts on November 22.
