Next-gen golf games to omit Tiger Woods branding

It’s been a long-standing and successful association for both parties, but EA and Tiger Woods have mutually decided to end it for some reason. Henceforth, all golf games from the publisher will cease to carry the name of the popular sporting figure, instead choosing to just label them with the PGA Tour branding. Moreover, EA is referring to further games from the franchise as next-gen titles, which is sort of a confirmation that the forthcoming game will be released for the PS4 and the Xbox One, probably along with other platforms.

Next Gen PGA Tour Game

The company has shared the first ever screenshot of its unrevealed golf offering as well. Improved graphics and lighting are easily noticeable, but we’ll have to wait for a bit longer to see what enhancements will be making their way into the gameplay side of things. About Tiger Woods’ disassociation with the series, EA has not given any reason for the same, but has indeed clarified that it wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors.

In total, sixteen games have been developed till date under the Tiger Woods PGA Tour branding. They include this year’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 which was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360, equipped with a special Legends of the Majors mode that allows you to step into the shoes of greats from the past and relive classic tournaments. You can play as Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and many others.

Tiger Woods might have been dropped from the names of all PGA Tour golf games, but these titles still seem to be ready for their yearly releases. We’ll have more on next year’s offering when official details are revealed by EA.
