Call of Duty Elite premium users who downloaded the first DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were quick to realize that this content was locked to a single profile, not allowing access to more than one account. This was not well received by users as the terms of these DLCs had mentioned that multiple gamers on the same console can utilize the downloads. It is no surprise that Activision will be preparing an update for the game to fix the matter.
Through a statement sent to Joystiq by Infinity Ward, the developer mentioned this issue to be ‘unintentional’ and that a patch is being worked upon. After a short duration of the release of the Liberation and Piazza maps for MW3, gamers had apparently jumped onto the forums of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to report that these maps worked with just one gamertag on the Xbox 360. This means that only those Elite subscribers who downloaded the maps can use them online. However, the maps will be playable in the offline split-screen mode as long as the owner of the content is the host.
“We understand that ELITE Premium Members on Xbox Live who purchased the latest DLC Content Drop for Modern Warfare 3 are unable to access that content while signed into other profiles on the same console that originally downloaded the content. This is unintentional and we will work to get an update out as soon as possible that corrects this issue and allows you to continue to enjoy the new maps,” Infinity Ward spokesperson, Robert Bowling, told the website.
The DLC drop happened as per the schedule which was revealed by Activision earlier this month. Free and exclusive only to Elite members who own Xbox 360 consoles, this content will be released for other users in the near future, requiring them to purchase it online.
If all goes as planned, the DLC issue of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be fixed within a little while by means of a downloadable update.
